Since 1972, councils have sponsored the Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship for boys and girls from the ages of 9 to 14 to provide an athletic outlet and encourage the values of sportsmanship and healthy competition. Kids compete within their own gender and age and progress from local level to district, regional and state/province competitions. 

The Evansville KC will hold the local and district Free Throw Contest on January 25, 2026 with sign up starting at 12am Noon and play beginning at 1pm at the St. Mary's school gym in Chester next to the Chester KC Hall.  Admission is free for all participants.  Participants are able to shoot 15 to 25 consecutive free throws, depending on the round, and are given a score for each one made.  The winners in each age group for both male and female contestants are eligible to travel to the regional contest and will be given the details after this event.
